April 16, 2008:

Second Leg of the Spring Tour is here!  We're headed back to some old haunts and new stages on this run.  Looking forward to the always fun Pourhouse in Charleston.  Gonna make some folks late to work on Thursday!  First time to The Earl in Atlanta after selling out the Red Light Cafe 3 times in a row.  The Grey Eagle is always great and we're playing with old friend Thad Cockrell that night, looking forward to hearing some of his new tunes.  Then lets do a no-rain dance for Shakori Hills on Sunday.  We play at 5:30 so see you folks there!

Charts! Charts! Charts!

We took a big jump last week in the Americana Radio Chart!  Thanks to everyone who has called in to request a tune off of IV.  If you haven't, please call your local independent or college radio station and request some CCL.

IV has also reached number 6 on the Billboard bluegrass chart!  We've never been this high before so thanks everybody for buying the record and thanks to all of the DJs for playing it.

On our way up the east coast we stopped by and visited with David Bromberg at his Fine Violin Shop in Wilmington, DE.  He was gracious enough to loan out two fiddles to John to try until we pass back by next week.

So we had a great time at the Continental Club last night.  Freaking Mike Mills bought a copy of "IV."  Truly an indicator that it is the "must have" record of 2008.  Thanks to Yep Roc for the good time and cheers to tomorrow.

Update: Mention in the Guardian UK from the Continental show. . . and it's a real beard.

Today is the Day!  Ladies & Gentlemen, "IV" is on the shelf.  Woke up to a message from Norway that we got a five out of six dice roll in the Dagbladet which is good stuff.  If you haven't preordered, go out and support your local CD store, they need you as much as we do.

Norwegian rock star Jonas Fjeld and legendary lyricist Jim Sherraden were in town for a week working on songs for the follow up to our Norwegian smash collaboration "Amerikabesøk."  We put together close to twenty songs that we'll record when Jonas returns in September.

There is a great article on Jonas Fjeld in the Jan-Feb No Depression that explains how we got together.
